Decommissioning & Remediation

Decommissioning & Remediation

Bath Demolition pride themselves on providing the best outcome for our clients in the field of decommissioning and remediation.

The acquisition of land doesn’t necessarily mean that you can begin building straight away. With measures put in place to restrict construction by councils and conservation areas, our expert advice will help you get on the right track. As pressure on building land is mounted, brown field site regeneration and remediation are becoming more important.

Harmful Materials

The handling of contaminated land cannot be left to chance or guesswork, which can often be the case with unreliable contractors.

We ensure that the entire process is managed efficiently and correctly by working alongside recognised specialists in the industry.

Before redevelopment can take place, brown field sites often need remediation beforehand. For the first steps of the process, Bath Demolition will carry out a professional site investigation alongside careful planning.

This is to effectively deal with any contaminants on your site, for example toxic heavy metals to asbestos, which can hinder development.

Brown Field Sites

The investigation of deleterious materials and contaminants can be discovered within the structures themselves or may have been leached down into the soil. If the latter has been unearthed then a soil investigation will be the next step of the process – this will be executed by geotechnical consultants with planned trail pits or boreholes where the soil samples will be sent for laboratory analysis.

If the results come back positive, Bath Demolition will professionally remove the problematic material to a licensed landfill site. An alternative to this is the use of modern techniques such as bioremediation – where we introduce microorganisms to consume or break down the environmental pollutants to clean the area. Our team is on hand to help with the planning and management of this process in collaboration with the specialist consultants we work with.

As always health and safety and adhering to the building act is a priority with the decommissioning and remediation of sites. At Bath Demolition we ensure that each step is completed for our client’s needs from start to finish.
