Before redevelopment can take place, brown field sites often need remediation beforehand. For the first steps of the process, Bath Demolition will carry out a professional site investigation alongside careful planning.

This is to effectively deal with any contaminants on your site, for example toxic heavy metals to asbestos, which can hinder development.

The investigation of deleterious materials and contaminants can be discovered within the structures themselves or may have been leached down into the soil. If the latter has been unearthed then a soil investigation will be the next step of the process – this will be executed by geotechnical consultants with planned trail pits or boreholes where the soil samples will be sent for laboratory analysis.

If the results come back positive, Bath Demolition will professionally remove the problematic material to a licensed landfill site. An alternative to this is the use of modern techniques such as bioremediation – where we introduce microorganisms to consume or break down the environmental pollutants to clean the area. Our team is on hand to help with the planning and management of this process in collaboration with the specialist consultants we work with.
