Baldwin Street, Bristol
Bath Demolition carried out a large demolition and enabling works package in the centre of Bristol.
The scope included:
Internal demolition of the building to leave only external and party walls standing
Temporary retention of the façade with RMD Super slims
Removal of remaining asbestos
Permanent piling and erection of four permanent steel frame towers to act as support to the external and party walls thus mitigating the need for a large amount of temporary works
Installation of crane base and erection of tower crane
To carry the works out safely, a large 10,000 cubic meter birdcage scaffold was installed, which needed to be adapted as the works progressed. A Tower Crane and base was also installed to assist with the demolition works.
Much of the demolition was carried out by hand and a remote controlled Brokk Excavator was used wherever possible.
The project was delivered on time and within scope of the contract.
