Exeter Deaf Academy
Bath Demolition Ltd were awarded the demolition and site clearance contract as Principal Contractor for the former Deaf Academy in Exeter.
The contract included the complete asbestos removal, demolition and site clearance of the former Deaf Academy, demolition of a redundant swimming pool and the removal of a pedestrian footbridge adjacent to the site.
A full R&D survey was carried out prior to the start of works and Non-Licenced Asbestos identified within the survey was removed by fully qualified Bath Demolition operatives and disposed of at a licensed facility. The buildings were mainly brick built and demolition was carried out using mechanical methods.
A crane was required to enable the safe removal of the footbridge, therefore a pre-approved sub-contractor was employed to install and operate this whilst Bath Demolition operatives worked to remove the footbridge using a 20 ton excavator and shear. All suitable materials were crushed on site, using our mobile crusher, to the required 6F2 specification as requested by the client and left in stockpiles for the construction phase. All non-suitable waste produced was segregated and placed into appropriate skips within the site boundaries, before being disposed of at a licenced waste facility.
